Gehraiyaan Bollywood Movie Review 2022
For some, the title Geehraiyaan may not mean much, but for others, it’s a complex drama that’s too over-the-top. In this Gehraiyaan Bollywood Movie Review, we’ll take a look at the film’s stars, including Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi. We’ll also take a look at the music, which is by Oaff and Savera.
Deepika Padukone
In the film, Deepika plays a yoga instructor who is stuck in an unhappy relationship with a writer. She meets her cousin Tia, who falls in love with Deepika’s fiance. In this complex, well-written film, the complexities of infidelity are tackled without becoming overly sentimental or cliched. Although the film is a solid one overall, it could have used more economy of words.
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Deepika Padukone share an arousal chemistry, though the film’s conservative cinematic conventions hold them back from fully exploiting their chemistry. In a rare on-screen kiss, the two actors radiate sensuality, while creating a warm atmosphere on screen. Siddhant Chaturvedi is a less convincing foil. Zain and Deepika Padukone are separated by thirteen years in real life, but his complex character is palpably flawed.
Siddhant Chaturvedi
After a stellar performance in Gully Boy, Siddhant Chaturveda was expected to own the screen in Gehraiyaan. This dark comedy stars Ananya Panday, Deepika Padukone, and Naseeruddin Shah. During the promotional tour for the film, he posted random poetry on his Instagram. In the movie, he talks about his ‘tough upbringing’ and his relationship with his family.
The movie premiered on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. on December 8, 2018. The cast includes Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairy Karwa. It is directed by Shakun Batra and produced by Karan Johar. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Dhairya Karwa
Geehraiyaan is a complex drama that doesn’t leave you smiling. Despite the emotional power of Deepika Padukone’s performance, this Bollywood movie is too long and convoluted to be worth your time. There are also some over-the-top moments, but these will make you forget about the movie before you finish reading this review.
Geehraiyaan is director Shakun Batra’s third feature film, and it repeats some of the mistakes he made in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. The film centers on Deepika Padukone’s yoga instructor Alisha, who fears falling into the same trap as her mother, a novelist. Alisha is stuck between two worlds, and she works overtime as a yoga instructor to support her dream of becoming a novelist.
Oaff and Savera’s music
Oaff and Savera’s music is an excellent addition to this Bollywood romance film. OAFF composes most of their music on a laptop, but every so often they will turn to a hardware synth. The score for Gehraiyaan is surprisingly deep and moody, despite the film’s lighthearted tone. The film’s title track is a particularly evocative piece of electronic music.
There is a subplot about corporate issues in Gehraiyaan, but this isn’t enough to justify the film’s narrative. This subplot is silly, and it relies on a character who purposefully plays dumb. The movie also lacks meaningful scenes, opting instead for a frivolous musical montage.
Shakun Batra’s direction
If you like domestic noir, you will enjoy Shakun Batra’s latest offering, but you should also be aware that Gehraiyaan is not your typical Hindi film. While the first half of the film is a fairly standard domestic noir, the third act is an insane tangent that breaks the flow of the movie. If you don’t want to miss out on Gehraiyaan, you should stream it now on Amazon Prime Video.
While Shakun Batra’s ‘Gehriiyaan’ does not have the same depth of emotional resonance as his previous work, it does succeed in evoking complicated emotions in families. His earlier works, including “Kapoor & Sons,” proved that he is adept at handling such material, despite the lack of strong narrative drive.
