Game of Thrones Map
A map is an important aspect of the game of thrones. During the series, the various characters plot their strategies on various maps. For example, Aegon the Conqueror mapped out his conquest of Westeros on a painted table in Dragonstone. Other characters such as Stannis Baratheon and Daenerys Targaryen used paper maps with painted pieces to relay information about enemy houses. Even the Lannisters had a detailed map of Westeros. A map was also depicted in the season 8 teaser.
Sothoryos
Sothoryos, the continent in the Game of Thrones series, is located south of Essos and near the city of Valyria. It is a huge continent, filled with rich resources and dangerous abodes. In fact, it is said to be more dangerous than Westeros.
Sothoryos also has many islands. The main island chain is the Basilisk Isles, which have become a notorious pirate haven. Other islands include Naath, which is renowned for its musical pacifism. To the north, you’ll find the Summer Islands, where a thriving seafaring civilization has flourished.
Ulthos
The Game of Thrones map shows the main locations of Westeros and Essos. It also shows the Nine Free Cities, the ruins of Valyria, Meereen, and Asshai, and the largely unexplored region of Sothoryos. You can even find Ulthos on the map!
The southern part of Essos is known as the Lands of the Summer Sea. It is home to the ruins of Valyria, the former home of House Targaryen. At the southern end of Essos, we can find the continents of Sothoryos and Ulthos.
Braavos
Braavos is located on the northwestern tip of the continent of Essos. It lies across the Narrow Sea from the Vale and north of King’s Landing. The city is ruled by the Sealord, a noble who holds a great deal of power. This map shows various locations of interest in the city.
Braavos is known for its ethnic diversity and religious tolerance. The founding members of the city came from many different places and had a variety of physical features. There are no set ethnic groups in Braavos, although many people have the typical Valyrian look. Residents of the city include white and dark-haired people.
Dragonstone
One of the most important locations in the series is Dragonstone, which is located on an island in the northern reaches of Westeros. The place is famous for its dragonglass, or obsidian, which is used to destroy the White Walkers. As such, fans are eagerly anticipating the day that Dany meets Jon Snow, since her ability to provide dragonglass could prove to be a selling point in their eventual alliance.
Dragonstone is a contested land in the series. During the early episodes, Stannis Baratheon was installed as Lord of Dragonstone. He had been appointed by his father, King Robert, as he felt he should have gotten Storm’s End. Stannis used Dragonstone as a base of operations and as his seat of power during the War of the Five Kings. The location is also notable because Dragonstone is the only place in Westeros where Obsidian is naturally found.
King’s Landing
King’s Landing is the centre of power in Westeros and the location of the Iron Throne. Although it has fewer named locations than other parts of the world, the city still contains plenty of fascinating details. This map is a part of the poster map folio titled The Lands of Ice and Fire. It also features Rhaenys’ Hill, which looms over Flea Bottom and the Dragon Pit.
Producers of the hit HBO show debated the design of the map room, deciding that the map must be roofless and visible from the sky. The reason for this choice was to set up a key plot point in the final season. It also evokes the imagery of prophetic visions.
Essos
The region of Essos is located to the east of the northern part of Westeros. The region is dominated by rugged hills in the north and rolling plains in the south. The main rugged hills of the region are the Hills of Norvos, which are situated in the center-north. The only major forest in this region is the Forest of Qohor, which lies to the east of the hills. The area borders the plains of the Dothraki Sea.
The map of the continent Essos can be found in the book series, titled A Game of Thrones. The region stretches from the Shivering Sea in the north to the Summer Sea to the south. It has varied landscape and is home to various cultures and peoples.
